It’s a little too late for my dad to invest on developing our talents in music. I and my older brother missed that opportunity to develop such but I am glad that at least now they have felt that need to invest for our youngest brother and their grand children.
Just like my husband, my brother is also inclined to wind instruments. In college he managed to learn few wind instruments on his own, though not attending music school. He longed to have at least one wind instrument.
Last year when my brother graduated from college dad bought him an alto saxophone. He practiced playing a song or two on it almost every day. Aside from the saxophone my brother also has purchased a second hand clarinet but it’s in perfect condition. He just needs to replace the reed on it. Last month he went online and found these clarinet reeds from musicians friend, he asked us to purchase one for him and his clarinet. Last week at our childhood friend’s wedding he rendered his first ever solo performance both on saxophone and clarinet to serenade the newlywed couple.
My parents were as proud as we are to see the family’s youngest playing love songs on stage. For mom and dad it was an accomplishment to have at least one musician in the family. For my brother it was a fulfillment of his dreams to be able to play the music of his favorite music artists Yanni and Kenny G.
