When I was a kid I always dreamed of playing different types of musical instruments. I imagine how inspiring I could be performing musical renditions. In a sense, I was inspired to inspiring. I see how parents were proud of their children after their children perform in the stage. Sad to say I did not get to see that kind of aspiration from my parents back then. They do not support our willingness to learn how to play different musical instruments back when and I could not understand why. It’s just recently that they show interest in investing to our talents. It’s too late for me, a little late for the youngest in the family, and just so timely for our niece and nephews.
I now understand their actions. It’s not that they do not have interest in us learning music; they suppressed their desires for us because we do not have money back then and learning music or attending to music tutorial is very expensive. Right now they are
fully supportive to their grandchildren. They are so lucky because they get to learn to play different musical instruments. My brother learned guitar, and saxophone, Mimi my niece could now play the piano, flute, and violin, and right now she is attending viola and cello class. The good thing is; Dad helps in buying their expensive musical instruments. Since not so many people are interested in learning viola and cello its accessories such as the strings are not easy to find.
Few weeks back my niece asked me to look for ¾ size viola strings here in the city where I live since they could not find the string there. I did find them but I know it’s the inferior brand. I went online and found a 3/4 viola string at musicians friend. Just then I know I am looking at the right stuff; superior brand and quality. I then contacted them and told them that I found a Thomastik. They asked me to order a number of it since they knew some people in the class has been looking for the said string too.
